114 Search Engine in China - Best Blogs Asia
Bing has quietly entered the Chinese search market with it’s latest engine embeded in IE in China.
I’m based in China so I often type in web site keywords into Internet Explorer on the off chance Yahoo search will pick up the search and find the site. If the keywords aren’t available then the 114 site pops up!
Microsoft Bing and the Chinese Search Engine
Surprisingly there isn’t much information online about 114, before it was at 114.vnet.cn now is located at http://so.118114.cn/. It’s a search engine which has photos, videos, news etc., and looks to be linked up with Soso.
Bing produced the site in Chinese, but searches can be made in English but with only a few results. I don’t think it’s a Chinese version of Bing since there’s one already.

I think Microsoft are a bit sneaky with this launch especially the trouble they got in the past with Live being bundled with versions of IE.

Restrictions with 411
Whilst writing this article, I’m realising that 411 crops up because it’s Government controlled. If I search for something which I shouldn’t or search for something in error then I get this site often. I do still think Microsoft having alot of catching up to do with Baidu, so maybe this is their way of getting into the market.
