I first came across the Singaporean blogger Xia Xue many years ago from an article in the Times (British Newspaper) and in the Asian Weblog Awards 2004, where she was the eventual winner.
About Xia Xue
Her English name is originally Wendy Chang, a blogger based in Singapore. The site seems to be her outlet to rant about things going on her life, talk about relationships, new technology and of course, herself.
Her blog is her promotional outlet which has led her gain revenue, sponsorship, column writing and even a Tv show!
Her popularity could stem from that she’s an attractive woman, promotes all things makeup related and is very girly (hence the pink colours).

There’s a lot of things going on with the site. It contains a lot of text, a lot of images and bright colours. The actual content is humorous and very frank, which make me think her popularity comes from regular readers.
She also links to herself from other Blogspot accounts, has a Dmoz listing, links from other bloggers (strongest being Zucket and Kenny Sia), Wikipedia and the Asian Weblog Awards 2005. Surprisingly Google Images account for 10% of her referrals.
Conclusion
She’s a persistent blogger, who writes long detailed posts on what’s going on with her personal life. People know what to expect from her posts, she’s been promoted in different media outlets and is successfully marketing herself and making money from it. For any bloggers who are starting out and like to write about their lives, I’d recommend checking her out for inspiration. I guess this is a prime example, if you blog enough…the money will come!
